The Treetop Playroom reworks an existing formal dining room into a connected family play space without closing it off from the surrounding home. A custom play loft uses the room’s height to provide more opportunities for play while preserving natural light, supervision and open floor space.

The upper loft supports constructive and small-world play through a car ramp, display shelving and a reading corner. Below, a child-sized doorway leads to dedicated imaginative and sensory spaces, including a play kitchen, bubble tube, mirror and fibre-optic ceiling panel.

The active-play zone brings climbing panels, monkey bars, ladder rungs, gym rings and a trapeze together around a safety mat and foam pit. This gives the children varied ways to climb, hang, balance and build physical confidence.

A timber divider defines the playroom within the open-plan home while incorporating a floating Maker Space, storage cabinetry, display shelves and forward-facing book ledges. Deep greens, mint tones and Tasmanian oak connect the different zones, creating a playroom that supports active movement, creative projects, role play, sensory regulation and independent play within one considered family space.
